Pumps

Centrifugal pumps circulate water and transfer liquids. They are commonly used in commercial and industrial applications, such as filtering water, boosting water pressure, and aerating ponds and fountains. Self-priming, portable utility pumps speed up drainage. Corrosion resistant pumps move chemicals and resist damage from acids or chemicals. Booster pumps increase pressure in city mains or residential buildings, and can maximize filtration operations in pond systems.

Circulating pumps move water through closed loop heat recovery and hydronic systems. Boiler feed pumps move steam and condensate in industrial boilers and heating systems. Hot water circulating pumps are commonly used to manage chemical processes in refineries, textile mills, or wood mills.

Coolant pumps circulate liquid through a cooling system around heat-producing motors, equipment, and tools. They transfer heat away from machine tools and industrial equipment and prevent them from overheating.

Drum pumps are hand-operated, electric-powered, or air-powered devices that suction fluids out of drums, barrels, pails, and intermediate bulk containers (also known as IBCs or totes). They reduce the risk of spills and minimize product waste by allowing fluid to be removed from containers that are too heavy or large to be tipped for pouring. The intake hose or tube of a drum pump fits through the opening of a container to dip into the fluid within. The drum pump’s pumping mechanism draws fluid through the intake and discharges it from the pump’s outlet. The parts of the pump in contact with fluids being pumped should be compatible to avoid damaging the pump or contaminating pumped fluids. Drum pumps are commonly used in agriculture, manufacturing, sanitation, and fleet maintenance operations for dispensing fuels or other fluids and transferring fluids to smaller containers.

Filtration systems screen out particles that can lead to coolant system damage. Coolant filters trap ferrous particles, scale, and other contaminants, preventing damage to coolant pumps. Reusable filter cartridges can be cleaned and reused.

Fuel and oil transfer pumps move oil, fuel, lubricants, and other substances from one container to another. They are common in servicing truck fleets and heavy equipment with fuel and lubricants. Transfer pumps remove liquids from tanks, either above or below ground, so the tanks can be cleaned. Oil change systems transfer liquids for cars, trucks, and farm equipment.

Sump, sewage, and utility pumps drain liquids from flooded areas and basin sump pits to prevent flooding. Primary sump pumps drain water from sump pits in basements to prevent damage to homes and belongings. Sewage and effluent pumps dispose of wastewater from drains or septic systems. Marine bilge pumps remove water from the boat’s bilge compartment. Trash, dewatering, and utility pumps remove water that may contain solids from jobsites and remote locations. Sump and sewage pump switches and controls regulate when pumps start and stop, while alarms alert when flood conditions occur. Sink drain pump systems help remove wastewater from baths or sinks with below-grade drains, such as those in the basement of a house.

Well pumps and systems are used to pump water up from wells and supply water to homes or facilities without access to a municipal water source. Hand-operated pitcher pumps transfer water from shallow wells that have no pump and are for use in areas where it is not possible to run water pipes from a main well. Well water tanks and accessories store water in a tank for consistent water pressure and allow water tanks to be connected to pipe or pumps so water can flow throughout the system. Watertight well caps and well seals protect wells from contamination by liquids and debris. Well points and well drive caps are driven into the soil to create shallow wells.
